Welcome to ReadHD ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information through our iOS and Android applications.

By using ReadHD, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account Information: Name and email address when you register an account
Reading Data: Books read, reading session duration, daily goal progress, and anchor positions
User-Generated Content: Notes, highlights, vocabulary entries, and Brain Dump text (stored encrypted in our cloud)
Usage Statistics: Features used, session frequency, and in-app interactions
Device Information: Device type and operating system version (for compatibility and debugging)
Subscription Status: Whether you hold an active premium subscription (managed by Apple/Google, not stored by us)

We do not collect payment card information. All payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide and personalize the ReadHD service
Sync your reading progress, notes, and anchors across your devices
Power AI features including the Vocabulary Builder and Context-Aware Anchoring
Monitor and improve App performance and stability
Respond to support requests
Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase (a Google Cloud service), which provides industry-leading encryption at rest and in transit. User-generated documents and notes are stored in an encrypted format. We implement technical and organizational measures to prevent unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure of your data.

5. Third-Party Services

ReadHD uses the following third-party services that may collect data as described in their own privacy policies:

Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, and cloud sync: Firebase Privacy
Apple App Store / Google Play — subscription and payment processing
Project Gutenberg — public domain e-book content (no personal data shared)

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (reading progress, notes, highlights, vocabulary) is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days. You can initiate account deletion at any time through the App Settings.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
Delete your account and all associated data
Withdraw consent at any time (which may affect your ability to use certain features)

To exercise these rights, use the account deletion feature in the App or visit our Account Deletion page.

8. Children's Privacy

ReadHD is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
